How is the City of Carpentersville
My husband has been relocated to HE (AT&T) and we have found a townhome in Carpentersville (silverstone lake sub-division)that we are about to sign a lease on. I wanted to know about the city, i have only been there once when we looked at the house, now i'm wondering if i should have found out more about the area. We still have a few days to back out. So if anyone can tell me how that area is please let me know.

Carpentersville? I avoid that place like the plague, there are many far better towns to choose from. In recent times the town has grappled with a large illegal immigrant problem, along with rising crime. If he is going to work in HE, Id recommend looking at Schaumburg, Bloomingdale, Villa Park, Hoffman Estates itself, Itasca, etc.

I hate to say it, but you really should have looked around. Unkess there are parts of Carpentersville I don't know about, I wouldn't want to live there. I say don't sign and keep looking.
Sorry

As someone else stated, Carpentersville has a large illegal immigration problem. This article pretty much sums it up:

Yes,agree with the above. Sorry, but true. Gangs and crime are just some of the issues. I dont think its going to improve. I dont know what your price range is, but you could check out Dundee which is its neighbor.

Id even steer clear of parts of Dundee too. If youre going to stay in that area, shoot for Crystal Lake, Algonquin, Sleepy Hollow, theyre far better towns.

Dundee is actually 2 towns: West Dundee and East Dundee. The towns are separated by the Fox River.
East Dundee borders Carpentersville and is less desirable. West Dundee has a great downtown (Tom Hank's "Road to Perdition" was filmed there) with nice parks, shops, restaurants, a microbrewery, a couple of fun bars/theatres for live music. There's also a great bike trail off the Fox River.

Thanks for clarifying that, I forgot to mention it. West Dundee is eons better, youre correct.
And I believe the Road to Perdition was filmed in Geneva. Or perhaps they filmed in both locations?

Many of the scenes were filmed in downtown Dundee. Tom Hanks home was in Barrington Hills. I dont know about Geneva shots. There was a big commotion with Newman,Hanks and Jude Law were hanging around. Not as big as my heart stopping views of Keaneu Reeves filming in a home across from the kids school (Countryside). They shot in an empty lakefront house (Chain Reaction was the movie)

Cool.
I know that they filmed alot in Geneva, because they re-did alot of the downtown storefronts to make it look like the 20s and 30s. I never got to see Tom Hanks though, but I saw all the trailers, thats gotta count for something!
