Default Does anyone know anything about Algonquin??

Thinking of moving to Algonquin. We are unable to find any information about the city. Drove through and it looked nice and a lot being built. Saw some homes and they were ok. Asked some people about the area but none seemed to know much about the area.
Anyone that knows anything please let us know! Thank you!

Looking for info on: crime, type of people, resale values, shopping, traffic, schools, entertainment and anything else you think would be good for us to know.

I live in a neighboring town. It seems to be divided into the "old" town, along the river, charming original "village" and winding heavily wooded streets of older neighborhoods,--and the new town,,lots of strip malls and tree less sub-divisions. No real crime to speak of ,schools ok but getting crowded because of the new growth area. Havent heard anything "bad" about it.

Just my 2 cents -

crime - probably pretty low unless you live in the area that borders Carpentersville which may have more crime.

type of people - West side (that is, west of the Fox river) has lots of families with young children. East side seems more diverse with families, couples, singles, seniors. The town is mostly middle class with a mix of blue collar, college grads, etc. Some areas have lower income. The west side has a higher income, gated golf community (Boulder Ridge).

resale values - There is alot of housing inventory, but resale should be good due to the avg. home price and amenities of the area.

shopping - Lots on Randall Road including some new upscale malls. Some charming shops in the historic downtown area.

traffic - Terrible if you live on the west side of the river and have to commute east over the river (there are tons of subdivisions and only a few bridges). You could also take Highway 90, but Randall Road is very congested.

schools - Ok. A tax referendum was passed resulting in the construction of several new schools on the west side and additions to the existing high schools.

entertainment - A couple of fun restaurants/bars in the historic downtown area and along Randall Road.

Hope this helps...
