Seems like so many of us have the same question, but since all of our situations are different, it is hard to compare. There is SO MUCH great information found from a forum search that I found myself lost.

SO..

Us:
Job at Braidwood plant
Moving from a N. Austin Suburb
2 adults, 1 kid, 2 dogs and a cat
Child is currently in Gifted Program so school districts that utilize it is great
Renting, need a yard
*shorter commute the better*

Suburbs/neighborhoods to avoid? Better school districts? I am not even sure what to ask. Help me here?

Thank you!!!!!

N. Austin as in Texas?

Yikes. You ain't gonna like what you find here...

Do you want a newer subdivision? You may find some distressed home owners in Oswego that are renting out their homes. The patterns of where the "boom" stopped and the "bust" is still settling in are still having repurcussions...

Bourbonnais may be a good option. There is a neighborhood called Game Trail or at least a street called Game Trail North and also GT South. It is on the northwest end of the Bourbonnais village limits near the Kankakee River State Park. The schools are solid and have a gifted program. The village is home to Olivet University and has shopping and dining.

Another option may be Morris or Manhattan.

I don't mind moving to an area that is smaller and doesn't offer as much to do. I'm a homebody and I am sad to say I don't utilize much of what we have here.

The age of the home or neighborhood isn't an issue with me so long as it is clean and safe.

I will look into all of those place. Thank you!
