Thanks for the info.

It was one of the strangest sights I have ever seen and I've never forgotten it. Truly bizzare.

Who doesn't like fancy cars and nice jewelry?

The problem with these people is that they don't seem to be happy in some defined ghetto like all other social groups (Amish, college students, yuppies, inner city Blacks, anti-war types, east coast types, Orange County types, etc). The world is their playground. They to grow up and become Amish. (Amish with fancy cars, maybe. Fancy stolen cars.)

Actually, I don't. I'd rather drive a modest car and have money in the bank for my children's education and retirement. Gross displays of money really turns me off, I was just raised that way.

Default Fairyland Amusement Park

I don't recall Gypsies at the park. I grew up on 41st and Clinton and we used to go there all the time.

Best pizza by far is Villa Nova!!!!!!

If you haven't seen it, watch the movie, "Snatch". It's a pretty good movie. Brad Pitt is in it and he plays an Irish Traveler. He has the Irish accent down really good too!

Talk about nostalgia! With all this old neighborhood talk and amusement parks, you got me thinking about Kiddieland and the old Dr Jazz Ice Cream Parlor. Now I'm homesick!

I've spent my whole life in the chicago area (grew up in elmhurst, lived in the city for 15 years and now reside in Oak park). I can't say they are a problem specifically to the western suburbs. However, working in the hospitals (northwestern, christ, loyola), we did have problems when one of them was admitted. Thier families would move in the room/waiting room, come in at any hour/ disturbed other families. I think they obviously travel and if they are in a certain metropolitian area they can travel anywhere.

Oh My Gosh Cobolt- I remember Dr. Jazz! What about Swenson's Ice Cream? As for Gypsies, if I have seen them I didn't know they were Gypsies.

All this Gypsy talk makes me think of Borat.
