Yeah, they got shut down twice for alcohol violations. After the second time I guess it did enough damage to their business that they just threw in the towel.

In the "mill race" complex, their pub (name?) that is down the stairs is really good. And not as expensive as upstairs, and more casual. We have been there several times. Fisherman's inn trout is great, but can be expensive... and the last 2 times we went there, the service was very slow.

Potters Place in Geneva has been taken over by Miguels Cucina or something like that. Some coworkers of mine went there and said it was ok, not the greatest, not the worst.
I tried and liked the Prairie Rock Brewery in Elgin, next to the casino. They had pretty decent food and the building itself is very nice.

I enjoyed the stout and red ale over at Founders Hill Brewery, in Downers Grove.
I'm also a big fan of the Terminal Stout at Rock Bottom, but that's s chain...

Founder's Hill is long gone, since replaced by Emmett's, which is a local chain.
