Here are some nice places in Glencoe, if you don't mind taking a look:
Single Family Home - 1124 OAK RIDGE DR, GLENCOE, IL, 60022 - Realtor.com
Single Family Home - 534 DUNDEE RD, GLENCOE, IL, 60022 - Realtor.com
Single Family Home - 557 DUNDEE RD, GLENCOE, IL, 60022 - Realtor.com
I think this one is great. I live very close to it. Even though it is not walkable to Downtown. You are walking distance to the Botanic Gardens, West School, and the pretty Skokie Lagoons. Everything is a short drive away too.

Wish I could drive one of those but I commute on the interstate a couple of days per week and I would feel nervous in such a small vehicle.
Again, good luck to you. What's holding you back on the LB house, price only?

I did notice quite a few Prius (that is what we have) today in HP. I even saw one in LB.
The things holding us back from putting an offer on LB are the price (and lack of comps to figure out what we should even offer), unanswered questions about whether it is liberal enough for us and the fact that we don't want to rush into anything. We want to spend some time really getting to know the areas for ourselves. Americana does sound like LB and that just isn't us. I would hate to buy somewhere and realize that it just isn't where we want to be. After losing our butt so badly on our house sale in Santa Cruz, we are more than a little apprehensive about buying again. This market scares us as well. There just seems to be no end in sight to this downward spiral.

Lake Forest and Lake Bluff are just as conservative as Golf. Lake Forest and Winnetka are like some of the most conservative communities in Chicagoland, according to results from 04'.

Thanks, but all of these are well out of our price range.

Small and conservative is worse than medium and conservative.

Just last week I took the test and am now a Brokers Associate. I am not affiliated with a brokerage. Still shopping around. I wanted to get the best deal I could. I am leaning towards CB Glencoe or Prudential Preffered Winnetka. The larger brokerages all have really high desk fees now.
