I really don't think the cultural differences between many North Side neighborhoods and NoCal are that great. I've spent a lot of time in both places, and have found the people to have similar attitudes. Most of the people who really buy into the California myth aren't originally from California, in my experience.

In hindsight, I wish I had, Lookout Kid! It just didn't work when we first re-located due to our commutes. I also wished I'd paid more attention to the reputation factor.

Now it's getting close to retirement and we want to move back to the coast - we're ocean lovers.
