The legislative deadlock over state funding for mass transit may jeopardize federal dollars for major commuter rail improvements in the Chicago region, two Illinois congressmen and the head of Metra warned Tuesday.
Illinois could lose up to $1.5 billion for the proposed expansion of Metra service, including the suburb-to-suburb STAR line; SouthEast Service to South Cook and Will Counties; and expansion of the Union Pacific Northwest and West lines into McHenry and DuPage Counties, U.S. Reps. Mark Kirk and Melissa Bean said.
YAY!

The Star line would be great also because it would eliminate the need for the CTA to extend the Blue Line like they have been talking about for years. We know well the CTA runs its business.
People need to vote these morons out of office. But then again I have been saying that for over 15 years and waiting for it to happen. I hope you register to vote here Supernerd (as well as everyone else on here that moved here from elsewhere), because too many people move here and never bother to register to vote here, let alone vote. Then they cry about how crappy things are because ar elected officials suck. We in the Chicago area need as many qualified voters more than ever.:-)

I think that there are many of us who look forward to Election Day with genuine satisfaction.
Yeah, they don't have money for Metra and the CTA but multi-millionaire businessman and Trib and Cubs owner Zell wants public funds for Wrigley. They all need a good trip to the woodshed---with a 2 by 4!

I am glad to hear you are too. I just wish more people would turned have out when the Cook County Board President was up,if there was a higher turnout, Todd "The Stroker" Stroger would have had no chance to get elected. We would be far better off if he did not get elected. Hopefully next time;wrong will be righted.

Yeh, I thought my view of the voting public around here was a little cynical until they voted that assgoblin into office. It was a painful vindication of my belief about the average voter in this county.

It makes no sense, but most of the people that have brains stay home now...
I guess they thought that the position does not have much power. I think they might know they were wrong now. We will see when the position comes up again. If I have not moved out of the county by then and that moron gets re-elected, I will.
