Another Thing if the average family of 4 income is 60k a year, you had one person say if Glendale Heights is a ghetto, then why am I paying $1700.00 month Lets just say she has that $60k a year 1700.00 rent a month x 12 months = $20,400.00 (rent) Lets calculate (estimates) utilities in this gas $80.00 x12 months=$960.00 Electric $80.00 x12months=$960.00 water $60.00 x6 months=$360.00 Garbage $50.00 x12months=$600.00 phone (cell) $50.00 x12 month=$600.00 we have not even calculated (food) in the equation nor expenses for the children Clothing, shoes, coats, etc.) car maintenance (gas) those extras cable, internet, etc. why would you not think that family would not be on food-stamps or receiving medic-aid, or any other form of government assistance....again poverty is everywhere also, and how can you live in certain villages as Glendale Heights are increasing Sales taxes 8.75% (Dupage county sales tax 6.75 + Glendale Heights 2.00) State tax 1.75% State 1.25 =Glendale Heights .50%) that includes food tax, sales tax on land actually the highest taxes in the Dupage County area counties besides other counties cook county taxes are high Glendale Heights are putting the squeeze on families also, whereas they are barely making it/ low end median, drugs, prostitution (massage parlors) police department corruption, Government corruption, violence, molestations, rapes, thefts, vehicle thefts, burglaries, robberies, drug overdoses, high populated 53.9 in State of Illinois www.censuspopulationglendaleheightsil.gov = Ghetto!

The median (not average) household income in Glendale Heights is over $60,000. This is NOT the average for a family of four. There are plenty of small households in Glendale Heights with only one or two people in small apartments. Also, retired people often have very low reported income.

Note that this is HIGHER than the median in Chicagoland, so there is no way you can call Glendale Heights even "worse than average".

Look, if anybody knows when to throw in the towel ...

I mean this is worse than arguing about the theoretical benefits of steering folks to rentals based on pigmentation.

Clearly some is convinced a certain town is something that others strongly disagree with and further posts will only serve to increase the time this thread spends high on the list...

Exactly. Look, we all know that Glendale Heights isn't the nicest town in DuPage County, but the word "ghetto" implies a place of hopelessness where the residents are trapped in poverty. There may be greater problems there than in some surrounding towns, but the term "dangerous ghetto" really isn't an appropriate label for Glendale Heights. It's not even among the most dangerous western suburbs. Have you been to Maywood?

The term ghetto was originated from the name of the Jewish quarter in Venice, established in 1516, in which the Venetian Authorities compelled the city's Jews to live. Various officials, ranging local municipal authorities to the Austrian Emperor Charles V, ordered the creation of ghettos for Jews in Frankfort, Rome, Prague, and other cities in the 16th and 17th centuries! World War II Ghetto's were city districts (often enclosed) in which the Germans concentrated the Municipal and sometimes regional Jewish population and Forced them to live under Miserable conditions! Ghetto's isolated Jews by separating Jewish communities from non-Jewish population and from other Jewish population.I stated before Mayhem-223 gave the name 'Dangerous Ghetto' My forum was 'Ghetto' Lookout Kid, was to imply that the Government has allowed others to be placed and given stereotypical names as ghetto, when in fact the government has allowed conditions to deteriorate in many locations for the sake of money. I mean metaphorically Speaking American Indians were placed on reservations same concept as a Ghetto regarding the origination of it's meaning. That is why I used the term ghetto to depict the fact of Governments focusing on Money and not truly concerned about the welfare of it's citizens, which is causing a form of hopelessness among our young and spiraling further downward....unless We the People Stop this nonsense....We will be destined to Doom!! Psychologically speaking....Where will We be able to turn or Run or the kids ?

So let me get this straight. Without numbers, stats, logic, or really any type of proof you are claiming an area is dangerous to move in to, using an attention grabbing word like ghetto that you have decided to make your own definition of. Going off of City-Data.com (this site) Glendale heights has less crime per capita then Bloomingdale and slightly higher then glen Ellyn. My question is how you justify and qualify Glendale Heights as a "Dangerous Ghetto" When the last murder was in 2009 and not only was not gang related, was a guy who murdered his father.

I can't help but translating Your "Gang Member" as "black or Hispanic person" or "white kid with backward baseball cap". If that is the case, then Lake Forest is infested with gang members. I mean help me see a correlation between race and style of dress with actual gang activity like drive by's, shootings, murders, meth houses, heroine ally's, all caused or supported by a specific group of people. At this point you just sound like an angry old man, who assumes the world is going down in flames because people are deviating from you consider the only way to live life. I'm not trying to be a jerk here, i'm just trying to figure out if you have anything important or credible to say or if your just a hate filled guy who has sworn vengeance on Glendale heights because he's mad it.
