I'm moving to Chicago here at the first of Jan. and I'm looking for a safe place in North Chicago. I'm single and in my early twenties and would like to be close to the EL so I can head into the city but not to far from my job which is in Northbrook. I was wondering if anyone knew any neighborhoods that would be good for this situation? The price range I would be looking at to pay a month is from 700-1100. Thanks for your help.

Are you looking for the city of Chicago, or the suburbs?

Evanston would be halfway 'tween Northbrook and the city

If you want the city you would end up with a 40-60 minute commute: Lakeview, Lincoln Park or River North-- it all depends on what you are looking for.....

Well I'm looking for a place where I would fit in with the younger single crowd, but don't want to have to commute over 60 min to Northbrook. I'm not sure if that is at all possible.
