Great Indian restaurant in west suburbs?
Is there a great Indian restaurant in the western suburbs? We're moving to Elmhurst in two weeks and will miss the Indian restaurant we frequent in our current town.
Any really great ones in downtown Chicago?

My absolute favorite is India House. They have several locations INDIA HOUSE RESTUARANTS - BANQUET HALL They are the restaurants that many Indian individuals use to cater weddings, parties, etc. I also like Ashiana which is pretty close to Naperville....maybe Downers Grove?

I'll second the vote for India House. I haven't been to the one in Oak Brook but I've been to the one in Buffalo Grove and both the food and the service were great.

Taste of India in Willowbrook, on Rt. 83, just south of Plainfield Rd., in a strip mall between the new lifestyle center at Rt. 83 and Plainfield Rd. and the Ford dealership farther south. Awesome food and great, friendly staff. There's an all you can eat lunch buffet for $8.95. I believe it's available between 11:00 and 2:00 or 3:00. Of course, they also have a full menu, and there is a private room available for parties.

Ive never been to it, but I hear a place in Lisle (I think its Lisle, I forget) called Punjab (dont laugh) is supposed to be great.
A quick search also found one in Chicago, as well as a few links to other Indian joints.

Viceroy in Lombard is top notch. http://www.viceroyofindia.com/
I'd also recommend India House, both the downtown and Oak Brook locations are excellent.

Ditto on the "viceroy of india". Is Bukhara still downtown? That was good, although it has been years since I've been there.

Actually Viceroy is my least favorite Indian restaurant in the city/burbs (next to Standard India on Belmont in the city); however Ashiana is owned by the same people and I LOVE there food.

You guys are great! Thank you for your suggestions. It looks like we'll have plenty to choose from. Luckily, both of my little boys love Indian food, too. So we'll have fun testing all of your suggested restaurants.
