I would rather send my kids to 203 schools where the high schools are actually in Naperville. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe both 204 schools are located in Aurora. The zoning seems pretty wacky with the high schools. You may live closer to a 203 school, but due to overcrowding the kids get bused to a 204 in Aurora, that would suck bigtime.

Why would it suck for your kid to attend a school in Aurora? Don't tell me you fall into the hype that that part of Aurora is bad. NOT ALL OF AURORA IS BAD GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE

Indian Prarie School District 204 feeds into part of Aurora, Naperville and Bolingbrook and parts of Plainfield

There are 2 high schools:
Neuqua Valley located in Naperville(which serves South Naperville, Bolingbrook and Aurora (White Eagle) and Plainfield)
Waubonsie Valley located in Aurora (serves North Naperville, Aurora)

Both high schools are very good and all the Middle Schools and Elementary schools. Don't let someone from 203 skew you.

It would suck, not necessarily because of anything bad about the school, but rather your child having to go to a school that is farther away from their home.

Don't know if that's what charlotteh meant or not, but it's a valid argument.

What's your definition of "Better"?

I would suggest you look at the schools themselves and not focus on the district. And by looking at the schools, I mean actually visiting them and engaging with the administration not just looking at test scores from a year ago.

With regards to high schools the debate is still ongoing about if and when and where they will build. It definitely appears needed but everyone wants to gripe about the re-districting-- let the kids be kids-- the new school will have qualified teachers, latest technology, and an enthusiasm that older schools may not have.

Teaching starts at home-- encourage your kids to enjoy, read, learn, discover and explore and they will make it though school fine.

Another reason to pay attention to which school district is with resale/investment in mind. The district often makes a big difference in the price/resale/desirability of your home.

I'd rather my children go to a neighborhood 203 school than be bused five miles to one in Aurora. I've never even been to Aurora, and don't think it's "bad", it just seems far out to me. I don't even live in Naperville, I just scoped it out when we moved here.

Being in 203 definitely increases home values, but homes in 204 have higher taxes from what I've seen.

Why is it BS? I wouldn't want my kid to go to a school that was nowhere near where they lived when there was one much closer to me. That just doesn't make much sense. I mean it might be BS, they might have a thing against Aurora, I have no way of knowing, but from my standpoint the point is valid: Kids should go to a school in their neighborhood.
