The bridge between Erik & Me and Blue Goose is Illinois Avenue/Street. Immediately south of it is a pedestrian bridge, and then further south yet is the Prairie Street bridge. Prairie Street is the one that T-intersects with Randall with Bud's on the northeast corner of the intersection and Jewel on the southeast corner. Illinois by contrast T-intersects with 7th Street with Thompson Middle School right in front of you.

Jalepeno Grill belongs on the "hidden restaurants in the suburbs" list. That place has some great vittles for a hot dog/burrito shack.

I am with you on the superhigh ceilings - that go from first floor all the way through the second floor. They actually make me feel uncomfortable for some reason. And they are very wasteful - space and energy wise.
I do like the 10 foot ceilings rather than the 8 foots though. We used to live in an old house that had these and had a hard time adjusting back to "normal" height ceilings. |

Yeah, and the latest change reflects the reality of the changing demographic of the area. But they still kept most of the "old-school Chicago white guy" items like dogs and brats and the like. Good stuff for a grease shack. Still not as good as Pete's out in Virgil, but good nonetheless.

Ah, that Pete's. I believe that is Lily Lake actually. There is Pete's Bar (at least thats what I think its called) along Rt. 64, immediately west of Virgil. I was thinking to myself, "Petes has good food?" lol Looks like a biker bar, not the first place Id want to see if they had a good beef or not.
I see what you mean now... I will agree that Pete's on 47 and 64 does have some pretty dang good food. I love their chili-cheese dogs. Their fries are pretty good too. |

LOL, this thread about McMansions is turning into a continuation of the "best hidden suburban restaurants" thread.
