HI,

I recently got a job offer in Worth, IL 60455. I want to know which areas are within 20 minute commute and have reasonable rentals. I am planning to rent a single family house. I have three kids going to middle school and high school and would like to have good rating schools in the area. Can you please suggest which suburbs I should ask realtor to show me rental properties.

The area nearest to Worth with schools of acceptable performance are probably is Palos Hills. Commute would be a breeze, towns are adjacent. Rental houses are not all that plentiful but you ought to be able to track down something acceptable.

Similar school performance in adjacent towns or Palos Park, Palos Heights, and Orland Park.

Palos Hills elementary and middle schools (Palos East and Palos West Elem, and Palos South Middle) are stellar, but the high school, Stagg, draws students from less desirable towns and is not highly rated. It matched the statewide average ISAT (IL standardized exam) score of 59% last year -- unacceptable performance for most discerning parents. If you like the Palos area, and want to be close to Worth, I'd recommend looking at the northern parts of Orland Park that have equally good middle schools that feed into the higher-rated Sandburg High School (ISAT 69%).

Another option: Lyons Township High School is one of the best in the state and is about 20 mins north of Worth, in La Grange. The towns of La Grange, Indian Head Park, Western Springs, Countryside and parts of Burr Ridge, Hodgkins, and Willow Springs feed into Lyons. Definitely worth considering, especially if your rental budget allows.
