@anjiyer Yes, I both grew up in Singapore and Jakarta, attended SAS as a student and then taught there as a teacher (I worked there when it moved from Kings Road to Woodlands- so a while ago....). My wife and I lived near Holland Villiage and miss it very much. I am currently an administrator in a school district in Northbrook, and live in Evanston.

If your goal is to find a district similar to SAS it's going to be hard. I am not familiar with Libertyville. Between LF, Glenview and Northbrook, there are many differences; size, parent demands, service, feeder high schools. Kind of depends on your priority.

While I work in Northbrook, I also worked in Glenview, D34 for 10 years as well.

What grades are your kids?

Wheaton, seriously? An exercise in tortuous driving. Although decent suburbs near North Chicago are expensive, $5000 rent easily covers it.

When it's the best or nothing... lolz.

I'm glad to hear the OP has coworkers who have chose to live in Wheaton. But frankly a North Chicago to Wheaton commute would be too arduous even for me, and I'm the Wheaton guy. +1 Libertyville in this sitch.

Wheaton was suggested, that's all! Personally, we wouldn't do a crazy commute.

Kids will be going to Grade 5 and Kindergarten when we move. Anyone knows which school districts offer Mandarin in Grade 5? My older child has been doing Mandarin for the past 3 years and we would hate for her to lose the continuity. Does the Lake Forest district still offer it?
