My My My. It's called exaggeration. I was simply exaggerating to make a point, I thought that was understood. My point was that the weather is much more outdoor friendly in the south than in the midwest. It can be cold, damp and rainy a great majority of the time. Of course you can leave the house for more than 3 months out of the year. And no one in my family has weight issues, we are all very thin. I am a firm believer in outdoor exercise--weather permitting. I don't understand how someone could rate me negatively because of that post. Have a heart people!

Well, I agree that someone shouldnt have given you a negative rep over that, but we cant change that now, can we? Yes, winter is cold, can be damp, but not often rainy. Most precipitation falls as snow in winter, which you can easily dress for and really have a blast playing in it, especially if you have kids. I found the south's winters (TN) to be way gloomier than here. They had a few more sunny days than we did, but no snow to cover up the brown, brown, brown landscape. It was mud and nasty looking leaves everywhere. I figure, if its gonna be winter, it might as well look like it. Oh, and the south gets alot more rain than we do, both winter and summer.

For the record, I didn't give you the negative rep (I don't even know how to do that yet) and I wouldn't do that.

I actually lived in Naples, FL and Memphis, TN for a bit and prefer the seasons and winters in Chicago. I was kind of depressed spending Christmas in Florida - I missed the Chicago snow and trees so much (palm trees wrapped in Christmas lights didn't do it for me). But hey, that's just me. To each their own.

As a midwesterner, I also had some trouble relating to the southerners in TN. It was in the 80's during the big Christian Evangelical movement (Tammy Baker, Falwell, etc.) and that was all the rage there. I didn't get it. I was also working at Graceland and couldn't relate to all the Elvis fans. It was just a very strange experience for me. I guess I was just homesick.
