Oh yeah, absolutely, I believe your "opinion" was BS and an over-the-top story. Even in the worst parts of Lansing, one wouldn't find what you described.

What could I possibly gain by lying? I didn't even say you were wrong, I just stated what I saw. Again, very defensive.

OK, in all fairness, I should ask, where did you see the disrepair you described?

Good question. My parents have a 2nd home in Lansing. Right around 192nd and Paxton. I also work the Lansing area quite a bit, and I have never seen anything close to what is being described about Lansing. |

I don't remember exactly, it's been years since I was there before, I do remember that it wasn't too far after we got off 294.

I also just want to say that I would be pleased to have as my neighbors the folks who denounced the OP's rant so eloquently. The OP? Not so much... ![]() |

For the record, I've lived in Lansing now for almost 10 years, and have a wife and a toddler in the house.
I have no issue walking with my family at night. Neighbors are friendly, place is clean, haven't noticed any graffitti, trash, etc... In the summer we have cruise nights in the downtown area, but even on non-cruise nights on a nice evening you'll see people walking all over enjoying the night air. I rented here for 3 years before buying my home here (over 6 years ago). I cannot attest to how Lansing was 30 years ago, but I can tell you that it is just fine and dandy right now. In reading the negative experiences that people list in here, I can only say that it has not been my experience, or the experience of my friends and family that live here also. Could it be better, sure... is it bad? not by a long shot. TF South needs to improve dramatically, but at least my daughter's elementary school is supposed to be pretty good. I'd like more businesses to relocate to Lansing as well, but as long as we sit on the a state line that has much lower taxes on the other side, that will be difficult. So until then I do most of my general shopping within a few minutes of Lansing's boundaries. Take this for what it's worth. Most of the negative stuff in this thread is anecdotal at best, I'm just throwing my anecdote in as well. (please excuse spelling/typos, I'm not going to proof-read) ![]() |

It had been a long time since I'd been there and I did have a few beers in me. My friend told me we were in Lansing picking up another friend, maybe he was mistaken...My sincere apologies ![]() |

I have never seen garbage or a graffite problem in lansing. Even in the bad areas of town this is not the case. here is another example of people tring to tear down the reputation of our town that dont even live here. Also if lansings busnesess are hurting maybe we can blame cook county and all thier taxes.
