Hey guys and gals, quick question perhaps you can help me out with. I take the green line regularly, but never at 6:00 in the morning. I'm flying out of O'Hare later this week and will need to be on a pretty early train for my 9:30 flight. Are there any of you that would not do this? If at all possible I'd like to save money by not taking Uber or taxi to the airport. Might be nothing or it might be a valid concern. Anyone have any insight? Would your answer change if you're flying to a bachelor party and might have a tad bit of money in my pocket? Thanks for reading!

I believe you meant the blue line, since that provides a direct connection to O'Hare from Oak Park?

Just take the #90 CTA bus from Harlem Green line station to Harlem Blue line station then transfer to Blue line. Its a lot faster.

There are very few "bad guys" on the CTA during extended AM rush hour and 6AM certainly qualifies as that. I would caution that it is going to be a very round-about path from Oak Park to O'Hare via either the Green or Blue lines and even the least competent cab driver ought to be much faster for not an insane amount of money -- 303 Taxi -- Flat Rate Oak Park to O'Hare $27

Drive via River Rd 26 min

No doubt a taxi is faster, but if you have the time to spare and are traveling light, transit works fine too. I've taken both. Taxi is >$30 with tip, versus transit which is either $2.50 (but $5.25 on the return) or free (if you already have a monthly pass).

Thanks for the responses so far! I live 1.5 blocks from the Ridgeland stop on the green line. I figured I'd take it straight East and then transfer to blue and take it back out to O'Hare. I do have a monthly CTA pass. I've come back at 1:00 in the morning in a slightly inebriated state during the weekend on the green line before. It was not fun, even in the first car, and it only took one time for me to learn that lesson. I was just making sure that 5:30-6:00 in the morning did not equal the type of situations that you may see in post-midnight excursions.

I wouldn't have any problem doing this. You'll be on with the usual crew of lawyers and accountants who like to get into work early.

What happened?

Also if you wanted to shorten your trip you could take Metra into downtown an CTA back out. Not sure if that would save much time though.
