Iím looking to get some feedback or suggestions on some apartment complexes in Naperville. Iím looking for short term (6 mos) because this is a job-relocation Ė i.e., weíll be selling our house in Michigan in the next few months, and then buying here by June/July. So itís basically just an apartment for me while working in Batavia, while my wife/daughter stay in Michigan until school finishes in June.

I've lived in the Chicago area basically all but 9 of my 54 years, so I know the city (born and raised south-sider!) and the western suburbs. What I donít really know is which apartment complexes (or areas) in Naperville are a bit dodgy and which are OK. Iíve been looking (online) at the following apartments, and would appreciate any feedback on ones to avoid due to crime/noise/poor customer service, poor conditions, etc.

Also, if anyone knows of a nice 1 or 2BR apartment that I could lease for 6mos in Naperville (preferably 204 school district, in case school starts before we buy a house), chime in. Iíd like to keep rent and utilities to $1500-1600/mo.

Thanks!

Apartments (in no particular order):

Lincoln at the Parks
Bristol Station
Arbors of Brookdale
Iroquois Club
Addison of Naperville (I've heard bad things here on C-D)
GlenMuir of Naperville
Maple Park Apartments
Hunter's Glen
Grand Reserve
Autumn Run
Waterford Greens

Arbors of Brookdale is a nice complex. Neighborhood is nice and fairly close to I88. It is a few blocks east of 59 on Raymond Dr.

They have a outdoor and indoor pool, ok gym and beautiful grounds. They do a decent job of shoveling. Their credit requirements are strict and I am not sure if they do 6 month leases.

I checked and Arbors won't do less than a 12mo lease. Right now the top contenders (that will do 6 or 7 mp leases and have availability now) are Bristol Station, Amli of Naperville, and Lincoln at the Parks. Thoughts?

AMLI at Naperville were nice enough when we where residents, but I wouldn't advise it if you have any pets -at all. We had parking available close to our entrance almost always and the maintenance staff kept everything tidy and shoveled. Our only real issue was when leaving we couldn't get anyone to do a walk through our apartment with us (after scheduling it several times) and then they tried to stick us with a bill to replace basically new carpet because we had a dog (who didn't stain anything and we paid a deposit for). Aside from that I would give it a thumbs up.

Give Brookdale Lakes a call, they're owned by the same people who own Lincoln at the Park so maybe they'd do a six month too. It's a nice complex. I lived at Addison (before and just following the transition from Country Lakes) for eight years, it's gone steadily downhill. Wouldn't personally recommend it. Check out the reviews at apartmentratings.com.

Thanks for the feedback so far. I'm going to look at Lincoln today and AMLI and Brookdale in the next day(s). I don't have a pet here (though family may bring our dog for the occasional visit) so maybe the issue at AMLI won't apply.
