Thanks for all the input! I don't mind not having a bar in my "backyard," but as long as there is something to do nearby is fine. I am single, not from Illinois, and in my twenties so I would like to be near things to do. Thanks again!

there are things to do in the "burbs ... you will just have to find what suites your fancy. Plenty of Sports Bar types...
To me, the city was always a bit over whelming ... but i'm a 'burbanite ... and I was never really into the bar scene or the city... when i turned 21 i was married and pregnant already ... so drinking out/socializing was never a big deal to me.

ya I understand what your are saying. I am by no means a bar fly, just single and want to be around somewhere that I will be able to find some entertainment. I am honestly torn between schaumburg and bloomingdale. I found an apartment in each and really cant decide. Not being from Illinois, for a 1 bedroom, is 1,000 the average price range in the area for a place with appliances?

Seems like an average price for a luxo apartment. I paid a grand for a small 1 BR in Naperville back in 2001, Im sure that price has gone way up since then. What complexes are you looking at?

what are the areas?

I'd say there are no "bad" areas in Bloomingdale.... some of it is rather upscale.
though i do think there are some 6 flats on Lake (Rte20) that I wouldn't want to live in.

I only know of 1 apt complex there and it's at Gary and Schick .. which is the western edge of bloomingdale.

maybe if you posted where these apartments are at.... folks who are familiar with the area could give you info on the specific area/apt complex.

and i'd say the rent sounds about right.

I know when my son was looking.... that was about the minimum he was finding too.

There are complexes on the east side of the mall too, which were pretty nice actually. We looked at those MANY years ago, but decided on St. Charles instead.

Ahhh, i always thought those were all town homes back in there.

I still think Bloomingdale had a lot to offer with a bit less traffic... but it also depends on where in Schaum he has found the other apt.

oh..ok... North.

Algonquin rd to Roselle Rd to 90 east, to 53 south, to thorndale is roughly 20 min with no traffic.

I think that would be only 1 toll. Can't recall what it is at Roselle Rd. [if there is one]

HI!!! (waving hands alittle too energetically) Person here born and raised in the forgotten town of Bloomingdale!!!

Now, it's up and coming place to live because it's such a nice area. Would love to move back because it's a great place. No, no big night life because the entire town is mostly residential beside Straford and a few other places. It's too small of a town really. You blink and you have driven through it, but I loved living there. Now, the cookie cutter homes neighborhoods have all been lived in, changed to unique additions and landscaping and all the trees are old enough to touch over the street. You can reach a couple different train stations that will lead you to downtown. Itasca is right next door so not far at all.

Proud to say I grew up there!
