I'd take Bloomingdale traffic over Schaumburgs any day. and i checked, Bloomingdale is almost 7sq mile.
I too do not see it as a "blink and you miss it" town... that would be Keenyville [like we discussed before] I llike Bloomingdale ... i think it has a lot to offer. >>weren't from Lombard (GEHS) I thought Bloomingdale went to Lake Park .... ? and where LP was concerned... living is Bloomingdale was quite prestigious... at least in my HS days. |

Deegers, high five! Born and raised in Bloomingdale here too. And also a Glenbard East grad.
To enlighten those of you not familiar with Bloomingdale (which, let's face it, is pretty much everyone except maybe Steve-o): 1) When I say I'm from Bloomingdale I often follow it with "It's about halfway between Schaumburg and Wheaton." I figure most people have at least HEARD of those towns. 2) It's not "Bloomington." You haven't driven through us on your way to ISU. 3) Around 75%ish of Bloomingdale kids go to Lake Park. The other 25% is split between Glenbard North (the west area near Stratford) and Glenbard East (the southeast area near Glen Ellyn Rd.) 4) The commute to Itasca would be a breeze. 20 minutes even if you're on the west side of town. 5) I lived in Bloomingdale for 25 years and I have lots of good things to say about the place. But for a single person in their 20's, I might take Schaumburg over Bloomingdale. The Woodfield area is closer to "nightlife" than anything Bloomingdale has to offer. You'll likely be closer to Metra trains to the city in Schaumburg as well. Bloomingdale does have plenty of restaurants and shopping at Stratford and along Army Trail Rd. though, so don't think you've gotta drive 20 minutes to find a restaurant with a good bar if you end up there. |

Its not the worst place to live, thats for sure.
Have you been there before? Its getting very multi-cultural and is basically a big shopping center with some average homes and some very nice homes mixed in. haha |

I have got to admit... i have not been to Stratford in quite some time... a year maybe... and Dh and I went yesterday... I was very surprised at how DEAD it was.... sorta the way Charlestown was, or still is.. i haven't been there is ages either.
But i do prefer shopping in Bloomingdale/GH opposed to Schaumburg... lil lower taxes and a lot less traffic. |
