Morton Grove I would assume would be relatively high. Northfield is going to be pretty low but there are not going to be that may $400,000 homes. Des Plaines is probably relatively high. Evanston is extremely high and hard to contest. Glenview is relatively low. In the section of Glenview in New Trier Township taxes are very low and easy to contest.

Default if you want more responses...

If you want more responses to your posts put "Northern suburbs" in your subject line rather than "North Chicago." NC is a far northern suburb, not the northern burbs which you mention in your posts. In fact, it's very different than the towns you mention. Sadly, it has seen better days.

according to the tax percentages on this site: http://www.city-data.com/city/Illinois.html
Morton Grove 1.5% [ Estimated median house/condo value in 2005: $332,900]
Northfield 1.3% [ Estimated median house/condo value in 2005: $630,500]
Des Plaines 1.4% [ Estimated median house/condo value in 2005: $283,000]
Evanston: Median real estate property taxes paid for housing units with mortgages in 2005: $5,511 (1.5%) [ Estimated median house/condo value in 2005: $372,500]
Glenview 1.4% [ Estimated median house/condo value in 2005: $515,200]

many of the Northern Suburbs, the property values are much higher than other 'burbs. So, even though the percentage is lower, your taxes are still quite high. [they are high just about everywhere in the Chicago area.
