I will begin working in Schaumburg from May. I currently live in Japan and am originally from Michigan so I really don't know much about the area.

Could anyone recommend which areas are safe, cheap, close to parks or supermarkets? I will be working near the Woodfield Mall.

I would like to know what are the differences if any when it comes to the following cities:

Schaumburg, Roselle, Hoffman Estates, and Rolling Meadows. Would any of them be considered dangerous, or are any cheaper than the others?

Thank you for your help, I will be going next week to look for apartments.

They are all safe. Rolling Meadows is a bit more expensive, but other than that, they're around the same affordability.

I'm originally from the northern part of Roselle, attended Schaumburg schools, and most of my recreational activities were in the area while growing up. I still have a lot of friends and some family there, and so have been able to watch the area evolve over time.

I think I could help you with specific areas if you could give me some more information. Where is your job close to (woodfield, a major intersection, etc)? What's your priority: commute time, cost of rent, or recreation?

12 Oaks is a pretty good area; I liked it there.
Perfect location for highway access/main roads

Go for Schaumburg. I have a lot of contacts in the area. If you are serious, contact me via private message.

It is near the Woodfield mall. We are looking to spend 1000 to 1200. If an apartment is within walking or biking distance of a grocery store that would be great.

I personally would rather live in Arlington Heights or Palatine. Schaumburg is very car centric, while the other 2 towns have nice little downtowns.
