My husband and I are (finally!) moving back to Chicagoland this summer. We just want to rent initially and are stumped on where to look for apartments/town houses/homes. Do people use realtors now for this? Craigslist is not very helpful, and sites like domu and padmapper are just ok.

We're looking mostly in the south/west suburbs for walkable neighborhoods (Beverly, Flossmoor, Tinley, maybe LaGrange, etc.).

Thanks for the advice!

In the past I've used apartmentfinder.com and it was helpful. That was several years ago though, so I'm not sure how it is nowadays. I've also used a realtor (I'm one myself) twice for rentals. It's a free service to the renter. I *think* other sites like zillow and trulia show rentals too, but don't quote me on that lol. Hope that helps!
