What suburbs do you think are the least mentioned on City-data? Not necessarily underrated, but just aren't mentioned much. Here are some suburbs I think aren't mentioned much:
-Lincolnwood
-Villa Park
-Inverness
-New Lenox
-Lake Villa
-Lindenhurst
-Harvard
-Lockport
-Johnsburg
-Island Lake
-Lakemoor
-Ingleside
-Winthrop Harbor

Anything outside of Dupage, most likely because a lot of posters here either work in that tech corridor or in the Loop. In either case, they have the cash to live comfortably in popular western suburbs that fetch a premium.

The southwest suburbs don't get as much attention because there isn't any industry down there to speak of and they're farther from the Loop than the western suburbs. They're also not as nice to look at since they sprang up overnight to supply the white flighters of the '70s and '80s with cookie-cutter real estate.

Wayne, Campton Hills, Kaneville, Virgil, Lily Lake (or as I jokingly say, the "greater St. Charles area")

If it's not the North Shore or a few of the higher end West Suburbs they don't seem to get much love.

I lived in Lake Villa/Venetian Village north of Chicago and its a beautiful underrated area and the commute isn't bad only 90 mins on the Amtrak. None of my coworkers knew it existed or where it was and it was hard to sell for that reason. Wound up selling to a couple from SE WI who commuted to Racine.

There are literally over 300 suburbs in Chicagoland. I think it's safe to say that 90% of them are very rarely, if ever mentioned.

Don't forget Franklin Park and River Grove. Lyons, Stickney rarely mentioned. While Berwyn is mentioned constantly. Very few mention Cicero except in context of gangsters or Berwyn. Niles and Morton Grove don't get much love. Few write about Lisle other than as a budget alternative to Naperville. Darien...not much mentioned there...Alsip....there are many.

Batavia wouldn't get mentioned as much if I didn't force the issue

North Aurora doesn't get mentioned much either. Not the greatest school districts (minus the Batavia part), but it is situated very well transportation-wise. South Elgin is a similar situation (less so transportation wise, but a larger majority of it falls into a good school district and is, IMO, a better town than North Aurora).

You don't hear much about the Palos Hills, Hickory Hills, Bridgeview, Justice, Burbank, Oak Lawn area. Even areas like Palos Park, Palos Heights and Orland Park are not mentioned all that often.
