being transferred to Abbott Park
We currently live in Columbus, OH and my husband is being transferred to Abbott Park and we are not at all familar with the area. Any suggestions as to where to look for homes? We have 2 young children, so we would like an area that has good schools and a family-friendly neighborhood. Our price range will probably be around the high $300s to low $400s.

So, I take it your hubby is employed in pharmaceuticals? If I'm not mistaken, I think Abbottt Park is the campus for Abbott Labs in North Chicago.
If he's the only one working and commuting isn't an issue for you, you could check out Gurnee, Vernon Hills, or Libertyville.

Agree... I had a contract at Abbott once... lots of the employees lived in Gurnee, Vernon Hills, Libertyville, as well as Grayslake and Antioch. They should all be in your price range (Libertyville may be a little higher). All the towns are easy commutes and family-friendly. The area surrounding Abbott Park (North Chicago and Waukegan) is not too great though IMO. |
