Default Furniture options in the area

I am moving to the Bloomingdale area. Any input on where there are some decent places to find furniture, aside from Ikea? I am looking for something of quality and decent prices. Anyone have any thoughts or insider tips???

Value City Furniture has some nice stuff at a decent price. My MIL bought a townhome and furnished her living room with furniture all from there. Her leather couch is very soft (I've even slept on it), the coffee table is great--you can pull up the top and use it as a table. They also have a lot of 0% financing for 6 mos or a year. There is one on Barrington and Irving Park road in Hanover Park.

Wickes in Itasca isn't that far and usually has a big selection. It is moderately priced and comparable quality. Last great sectional I got was at lazyboy galleries. Everyone keeps falling asleep on it at my house. This was also a moderate price. Higher end would be places like the Smithe brothers' places (I think there is an outlet in Glendale heights on Army Trail and Bloomindale rd area).

I really like the Ashley Furniture Homestore, decent quality and their prices are really reasonable. I bought my living room set there. I think the closest location to Bloomingdale is in Arlington Heights. Welcome to Ashley Home Stores : Home

Homegoods on Army Trail has some fun furniture finds and the prices are pretty good. If you want great quality and pay a bit more for it there is the Toms Price Outlet on Army Trail next to Costco. Yes, you will pay more money that at any of the places mentioned previously but the quality is there. There used to be a Walter Smith outlet on Rowling Road, not sure if it is still there. Lastly, there are the Crate and Barrel and the Carson's outlets off of Rt. 59 (east of 59) on Jefferson. Carson's has some great deals on sofas!

Sorry, I conflated two different places here... That should be John M. Smythe's Homemakers, and Walter E. Smithe, with the latter being the more high-end/custom of the two. The former is aka Levitz, in case you had any of those by you before.

There is a furniture store on Army Trail Road about 1/2 mile west of County Farm, I forget the name of it. If you want to go fancy, there are some Thomasville shops in the area and Ethan Allen too, but theyre very pricey. There there is the usual Wickes, Bassett, etc, etc, etc.

If you are looking for wood furniture - there is a place named custom furniture - a small not fancy place. On route 25 just 4 miles north of St. Charles (north avenue) they have a great selection of all wood furniture. Bedroom sets, dining room sets, etc. We have bought lots of our all wood stuff there.

Also - we purchased some at Marshall field's home store on golf road and (?) in schaumburg. Right by the woodfield mall and near ikea. Macy's has taken it over so I don't know how it is now. But they had a good clearance dept. there as well as very high end and lower priced (not cheap though) furniture.

Also wickes.

This is a good time to buy, lots of sales.
