Oak Brook Area
Nice list! I like how you added runner ups. But where is Hickory Corners? And I don't think Aptakistic is a town. Maybe you're referring to Prairie View, which is between Buffalo Grove and Lincolnshire?

Grayslake is very nice by the lake and the fact that it has Grays Lake ties it with Gurnee and also the schools are good compared to surrounding areas for the most part. Your right the North Shore should be separate. Here's my North Shore list:

1. HP
2. Evanston
3. Kenilworth
4. Glencoe
5. Lake Forest

As someone who lived in LZ for 10 years I know why. It's a nice town. Very comfortable, safe, kind. As boring as hell after 7pm. We went to Wauconda for good local food.

Just wanted to give kudos for actually submitting a complete list when most other posts completely ignored the south suburbs. Including the posts where they felt the need to differentiate between the North Shore and Northwest Suburbs but not the South and Southwest Suburbs

Guilty, but I only comment on what I know. And I just don't know the south suburbs that well, even though half of my family is from the area. But I definitely can't recommend the suburbs that they are from.

I have some bias of course, buy why is Glenview on so many lists without Northbrook? They're virtually identical burbs, and actually, the schools are a little better in Northbrook. What am I missing that's so much better about Glenview?

And if you put on Northbrook, why not Deerfield? I think you just have to pick one, and Glenview is closer to the city. I don't know. None of them were on my list, though all three are nice places to live for sure.

Maybe people should lump Glenview/Northbrook/Deerfield together like people have been lumping together my beloved Tri-Cities.
