Hi I am looking for an area north west of the city (like libertyville area) that has its own little downtown (not just shopping plazas) and is safe and on the metra. Help !!

"Lesser degree" may have been true 10 years ago, but now, downtown Palatine is very lively. There are tons of bars (a few of which double as dance clubs, but the clientele is no fun) and restaurants. And in the summer, there are street fests and concerts in the park. Not to mention the old classic, Durty Nellie's.
