Thanks for the input...I did say schools don't matter "as much". We're aware of the prop. value issue with bad schools. No, there shouldn't be any kids....or another move might be in order, haha. I'd appreciate more input about the towns mentioned and other towns. Keep em' coming!

I don't have a problem with other/any races. I do have issues with crime. I've not heard about any serious crime issues in most of the areas we're looking at, with some pocket exceptions. Again, schools don't matter much to me unless a particular school or district in the areas we're interested in is particularly bad. We're also interested in whether or not any of the villages mentioned are getting better or worse in people's opinions.

I would say Willowbrook high school is at the same level as Addison trail, glenbard east, fenton high scool, etc..
The number of latinos moving in is relevant because in dupage county, home values go down once latinos start moving in. That is why west chicago, aurora, bolingbrook, bensenville, etc...are more afffordable.
Willowbrook is FAR more desirable than Addison Trail, so much so that there have been SEVERAL attempts by folks in Villa Park to have the district (currently shared) formally detached. As this is counter to the goals of "government consolidation" and would also drain the resulting smaller Addison Trail area of revenue from valuable commercial real estate near Oakbrook Terrace each attempt has been defeated...

I disagree. That is a huge exageration. Willowbrook isnt that much more desirable than Addison Trail.

To the OP, I dont think you should completely elminate bensenville from your list of places you are considering. The area north of the river forest golf club in bensenville is extremely nice and bensenville to Ohare is very close.

White Pines in Bensenville is nice. Parts of Wood Dale are very nice. Villa Park is okay some areas are more desirable than others. Addison same thing. Mt Prospect and Arlington Heights are good.

Thanks all...we actually drove around today with the Realtor app and found exactly what you're saying to be true. We really like some parts of Wood Dale, and yes, saw some potential in Bensenville. We never made it to Addison today, but that, and many other towns will be in our next tours. We also are now including Elmhurst and Itasca to our list, full well knowing that we may not get the house we really want in our price range. Does anyone live in Wood Dale or another O'Hare affected town and if so, does the noise bother you? Ruin a backyard bbq?

Don't live near O'Hare so I can't comment on how bothersome the airplane noise is. Sorry.

Look at Lombard, Itasca, and Wheeling too. I've heard there's some sketchy parts of Addison and Villa Park, so be careful where in town you buy. Elmhurst will be out of your price range.
