Default Buffalo Grove vs Long Grove vs Hawthorn woods

Hi,
My family is going to move to Chicago this Spring due to my job relocation. I am interested in buying a house so that my kids can go to Stevenson high school. We are researching online and are looking at Buffalo Grove, Long Grove and Hawthorn woods. It seems for less money, I can get a much bigger house and yard in Hawthorn woods than in Buffalo Grove (Long Grove seems to be in the middle, I am looking at houses around 550 k). Why so big a price difference (20%?) ? Is there anything I should take into consideration when I decide which area I should move to?
Thanks.

Three nice communities, I guess HW and LG are more "land", less strip malls/business but still close access to shopping /business areas. Personal opinion, I would live in LG/HW over BG just because its 'prettier".

Much of Hawthorn Woods is in the Lake Zurich school district, which would be the reason those houses are less expensive. Are you sure the houses you're looking at are in Stevenson's district? Regardless, I would be careful if your kids are not yet in high school because most of Hawthorn Woods that is in Stevenson's district has Fremont as the K-8 district and it's the weakest of the districts that feed to Stevenson. This could also be responsible for the price difference you're seeing.

Yes,
I make sure I only look at houses in Stevenson. Both my kids are in high school.
