Default Congrats New Residents!

If you've moved to Chicago within the past 12 months and have been able to survive this winter, you can feel proud, it's the worst we've had in years. This morning, a record 7 days in a row of cloudiness has come to an end, on a beautiful sunny day...and it's 2 below zero right now, with a windchill of -26. Well, on Monday it will be a well above zero...with a chance of a few more inches of snow.

Thank you thank you! I can handle the cold fairly well, it's the lack of sunshine that kicks my butt! But zero degrees is pretty tough. I told my husband that he shouldn't be surprised if in five years I'm telling him we need to move back to FL! But we'll enjoy the snow and outside activity while we're here. Can't wait to go skiing.

Funny...I grew up in MI so we'll probably head over there for a weekend of skiing. Or maybe WI?

Indeed, this has been the closest thing to a "real" Chicago winter that we've seen in a long time. A few more weeks and things should start to get better and stay that way.....hurry up SPRING!!

I agree, this has been one of the worst winters we have had here in a very long time. This reminds me of the winter of 1993/1994 when we had wind chills of something like 50 below zero.

Yeah - they said it has been 9 years since we had one like this. For those chicagoans who remember 1978 and 1979 though - this winter is NOTHING!!

Get your sorel boots and insulated gloves and you will be just fine. Pack your shovel, salt and a blanket in your car. Make sure your tires are good.

(remember: what does not kill you will make you stronger)

okay, I have a stupid question...
where do I find Sorel boots? I've looked everywhere for Uggs (even on zappos website) and they are all sold out of my size.
Where do I find Sorel?

Well, I was 2 in 1978, so this winter still seems fairly severe!

I remember the blizzard of '79...I was 8.

This winter has sealed the deal. We are moving to a warm weather climate. I can't take this weather anymore.
