We've bought our house and will be getting there mid May. If the movers aren't there for a couple days, we will need a place to camp out. I see a Budgetel in Glen Ellyn takes dogs, plus it's near a big park. But the rating of the place is hardly stellar. Any suggestions? (other than getting an air mattress at Target?)

Actually, why not "camp out" in the home it's for only a couple of days? We've done this once (maybe twice?) after closing and had a couple days until furniture arrived. Like you said air mattress, sleeping bag, paper plates and stuff to eat (you will probably have a fridge, stove, m-wave in the house already). If you have access to some of your furniture now or just before moving/closing, you can grab stuff you already have and bring it there (TV? DVD player?) to make it more enjoyable. A couple of days' hotel room will set you back 200 bucks or so, depending (esp if there a charge for a pat). Use that $$ to buy stuff you can later use for camping if you don't have the stuff already.

Now - if you have many or really young kids, it may not be an option. Likewise for elderly folk for whom it may be too uncomfortable.

There are quite a few hotels around...they are not necessarily in Winfield but there are quite a few in North Naperville and also in Warrenville near Cantera that would be a very close drive. I am sure some of them take pets.

YEP. That's what we've decided to do after I realized it was going to be for more than just one night. I'm going to mail a box of stuff to ourselves so it gets there when we do, since not too much fits in the car with the dog.

Thanks everybody.
