Question Relocating from Long Island, NY to Chicago Suburbs

Hi I'm a high school student and I've pretty much decided that I'd like to attend college in the Chicago area. I visited Chicago once and I absolutely fell in love with it. I'm looking for some general information, and I'd like responses from anyone who has any info. Here are some of my questions ...

1. What is a good college in the Chicago area that would offer a marching band/music scholarship? (i play flute/oboe) or a good program for to-be teachers?

2. What are some good colleges in the area, in general?

3. In comparison, is long island very similar to the Chicago suburbs? which ways is it similar, and how is it different?

4. Is it very crowded in the area?

5. What is a good suburb that is cheap, yet nice?

thanks!!

Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, IL (private) is excellent for teaching, but that is a suburb of Chicago, not right IN Chicago. They also have a strong music program.
