I rode through Tinley last night, and was very impressed. Then again, if people are looking for new homes, some sections are not the place to be. I liked it...and I wasn't 3743974327 miles away from Chicago. I hope they find what they're looking for that will be worth the fatigue that comes with their 1 hour + commute.

Not saying Tinley's bad by any stretch, I just reflected an impression I was given from someone who lives there. Is he right? Heck, I don't know. I definitely wouldn't consider Tinley close to the City though. It may not be 3743974327 miles (lol!) from Chicago but it's still pretty far. A lot of people may figure that 10-15 more minutes is worth it for a new (and often cheaper) home if their commute is already an hour anyway. Or not. Time will tell I suppose.

The next slum? LMFAO!
Suburbia, especially most of the southern cook county burbs have been the slum for decades and this only increased once Daley started knocking the projects down such as the Robert Taylor Homes.

Depends on where you'd be in Chicago. I once purchased something off of Craigslist from a woman in Beverly. She loved Country Club Hills (her hometown) because of it's "short distance to the city" (Beverly, in this case). In her case, she could get between home and work fairly easily.
Then again, some people consider Beverly, MP and Mt. Greenwood to be "east egypt" when it comes to the city. Different perceptions, I suppose.

I see. I definitely would consider living in Tinley even if I had to commute to the northside. I just like living in the Southland. Some people will just not give it up, and I'm one of them. I don't care about new construction so....lol let people have it if they want it.

It explains why my taxes have gone up, and my house is worth more than it was five years ago, as well as one year ago today. Right?

It's not all people from the Robert Taylor Homes. Most of the displaced CHA residents stayed in the city, believe it or not. But there has just been a general migration outward from the city of poor African Americans, and the affordable south suburbs were the closest geographically to the highest concentration of black Chiacgoans. It's that simple, and has very little to do with the demolition of CHA high rises. This urban myth has been blamed for everything from the deterioration of Cedar Rapids, IA to the rising crime rate in Madison, WI. I just roll my eyes when someone blames the demolition of CHA high rises for their community's problems.

Do you live in Robbins, Cal City, Dolton, Phoenix, Park Forest, Chicago Heights, Harvey, Ford Heights, should I go on? I'm not talking about country club hills...
