Default Please tell me about McHenry, IL

I am looking for rent under $1100 for a 2 or 3 bedroom single family home and I have a 7 year old son so the schools need to be decent. I know Mchenry has a metra stop but I don't know how much housing around that stop would be. Any opinions would be grateful.

Expensive....classy and very up and coming. I know alot about McHenry, but have friends who know it better. Lots of cute small communities, lots of opportunities for entertaining, I personally like it alot. Trying to get a job there but a few to many snobs.
Good luck and I can getcha help if you need, a friend in fact a few of mine live there and have for many years.

if your still looking, go for it. I grew up close to mchenry and now live very close to it, I shop there. lots of new big box stores there but its still far from the traffic of the closer burbs, near lots of nice parks and recreation, fox river and a nice old fashioned downtown area

Does anyone know the approximate tax rate for older housing stock within the municipality of McHenry? Or if McCullem(?) Lake area have a lower tax rate?

McHenry "classy" and "expensive"?????? It has a cute old downtown, surrounded by the usual strip mallsand car dealers ,,but I would say it is a "blue collar" burb -NOT THAT THERES ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT. And I was curious where you are taking the Metra from Mchenry

McHenry has a metra. Mchenry is not expensive as say, barrington, but to refer to it as "blue collar" would be inaccurate. No town is all one or the other, but Mchenry is a nice place and the people who live there like that its a bit more low key.

mchenry does have metra that runs twice a day 6am and midnight. not good, however Crystal lake and fox lake are constantly running. McCullom Lake is small and the school system would be mchenry district 15. johnsburg (school district 12) is close, right at richmond road and route 31 N and i grew up there. mchenry is growing but a VERY nice place to live and be a part of.

mchenry and mccollum lake wouldnt have a different tax bracket but i will ask my uncle, he is on the village trustees of lakemoor, the town on the opposite side of mchenry and he would know the surrounding brackets.

if you move to mchenry, and you are a fan of Loverboy, the band from the 80s, they are going to be at the Summer festival called Fiesta Days, my dad is head of entertainment for the fest. also if you need a guide around town, get ahold of me, i'd be glad to help.
