Husband and I recently moved from PA this month to IL and are both working in Franklin Park. We want to buy a home asap close to work, safe suburb, reasonably priced under $230K, single family ( no condos)
We are in our 50's kids are gone. So many suburbs, I really need suggestions to narrow to the field down to like 3-4. So far we like Brookfield area and then on the other end we like Lombard, Addison areas but don't know anyone from either to guide us. Thanks in advance

You could find something in parts of Des Plaines and Niles. Maybe also look into Norridge? Norridge may get some noise pollution from O'Hare. There's also Elmwood Park and Northlake nearby.

Price point is going to make it tough to find other than a relatively modest home. You might be competing with "flippers" who would love to find something that needs "cosmetic updates" -- https://www.redfin.com/IL/Itasca/5N3.../home/18192735

I do think that you might want to add Itasca, Bensenville and surrounding towns to your list to minimize commute issues and maximize selection of potential single family homes.

You might even consider Elmhurst -- https://www.redfin.com/IL/Elmhurst/1.../home/18114767

Wood Dale is nice depending on the area. Also parts of Elmhurst would not be too far. Norridge might work, maybe Park Ridge which is very nice. Franklin Park and Schiller Park have a lot of plane noise. Of course you could go into the far outreaches of Chicago neighborhoods too if you like. If you go to Bensenville, the White Pines area is nice. Brookfield is a bit far from Franklin Park. It will be very difficult to find a good house though at your price point. You might even consider living in Franklin Park. There are areas there that might be nice people look down on it but its not really bad. Its just a modest area. Also you might consider River Grove and Elmwood Park.
