Your best bet is to stay away from that offer. That is an arduous commute, and if you accept it, stay on I-355. Bensenville is a good choice if you don't have kids, while Elmhurst is great if you can afford it. Overall, Willowbrook, Burr Ridge, and even Downers Grove are great. I'd say some areas around Orland Park are dicier than Lake Zurich. An area to avoid, for example, would be Markham, or Harvey....

You have a number of communities in Eastern DuPage County at your disposal, which I recommend you move to.

Thanks. I have chosen not to accept the offer, and I got a second offer to insted work in Park Ridge (sigh). This time, where should I stay near?

Why don't you want to live near the city, and what's your budget?

What's your budget? Do you need to concern yourself with school districts or just trying to avoid "bad" areas? You can more than likely stay closer to Park Ridge.

Obvious answer would be to live in Park Ridge...

Well the immediate areas surrounding Park Ridge are urban considering it's directly next to the city. I think Mount Prospect and Prospect Heights would be where you should look.

If you're into the city you could live along the 90 corridor or on the north side for a more reasonable commute and work in PR. Or live in PR.

Within 10 miles (16 km) of Park Ridge or anywhere along the UP-NW rail line. Probably the former since that is not far from the "Cumberland Corridor," a major employment center.

Is your job an "office" job or a "field" job? And are you looking for a single family home or an apartment?

As one said before, Park Ridge would be obvious, but a single family home there could be expensive. I'm not to familiar with the rentals in that area, but I'm pretty sure they are on the expensive side also. If you have an office job, utilize public transportation would likely be best since that is a pretty dense urban area. If you want to live in a dense area, Park Ridge is for you. Decent night life and pretty quiet. But if you want a little more land and bang for your buck, Des Plaines-Mt.Prospect-Wheeling are also good choices.

Again it depends on what you're looking for.

That's a monster commute, even 1 time.
