No problem! glad to hear people are choosing sugar grove. I don't think you will be disappointed. There are a lot of great people here and opportunities to volunteer and get involved in park district programs for the kids. My own kids are older now, 19 and 13, but we got started when our oldest was 4 1/2. you meet lots of people that way and it continues right on through middle school! the park district programs typically end at 8th grade, then they have all of the various high school activities to participate in.
I attended the groundbreaking last week for the new middle school and that will be a great addition to the area. the library groundbreaking is may 3. next week, the library is having its spring used book sale and bake sale(starts on saturday, april 12th). this summer, we have the farmer's market each saturday morning from 8 am to noon at the village hall parking lot. the first market is saturday, june 7th. that is also the day for the village's annual open house. the village board sets up a variety of maps, displays etc and is on hand to meet the public and answer questions etc. refreshments will be served. if you are around, you should stop in!!

I guess time will tell. Kimball has until this Friday (4-11) to reach an agreement with their lenders. Hopefully it will continue to be business as usual though this tough time.

Hi: I'm new to the posts and wanted to get some feedback on Settlers Ridge. My house is up for sale in Glenview and we looked about a year ago at Settlers Ridge. We really liked it. I know a lot of families moving in have small children. Our kids are 12 and 9. Is there a diversity of the age of the kids at Settlers Ridge? Also, do they go to the Kaneland schools? One more thing....Is the pool/clubhouse ever going to get built? Thanks.

They do go to Kaneland Schools. I don't live in the subdivision, but have lived in Sugar Grove for 20 years. By august of 2009, the new middle school will be open in Sugar Grove.

There is a little good news on the kimball hill front, I just read in Crain's that they have been given another extention on their loan. they are trying to work out the details with their lending group. It was not detailed, but implied at least another month or so.

irish setter girl will become famous soon enoughirish setter girl will become famous soon enough
I was at another Kimball Hill developement this past week and they claim to be "just fine'. Of course the sales manager is going to say that (she is the third manager there in 6 months) but she said they plan to focus on their IL projects and let the ones out of state slide. Construction at most of their developments is progressing but not nearly as fast as planned. Where I was this week they said that it will be an extra 2-3 years to finish and they have scaled back the plans for the walking paths, parks, elaborate retaining walls etc... From what I have heard Settlers Ridge is doing OK money wise. Several other KH sales agents say they are probably doing the best of them all right now. Sales are slow but that is to be expected in this real estate climate. There are a few foreclosures in there but it is not related to Kimball Hill, they are privately owned homes.

The community development director for the village told me that they have issued quite a few building permits for settler's ridge recently. so, we should keep our fingers crossed. Knowing that their lenders are working with them to keep things afloat, is also encouraging.

Tired Settler is on a distinguished road
Apart from the party-monkeys who live in those townhomes and keep putting a stupid giant stuffed dog on each other's roofs... it's a nice enough neighborhood.
