And Tinley is not a big rival, but rather bremen in midlothian. Tinley hasn't rivaled OF in terms of sports in over a decade.

And moving to Orland will not change that much of your life because although housing is more, its not that much. A similiar house in OF say for 250k would be 280-300k in orland park. Taxes are very similiar, infact they are more in OF than in Tinley park. And if OP's are more, its by an insignificant amount.
Lumping all of OP's children as stuck up like you did is ignorant because much of orland park is blue collar and middle management white collar. There are very nice sections yes, but certianly its not an 'All Rich' town like what you found in some northern burbs.

If you look at the highschools orland feeds into; Andrew and Sandburg. Andrew is not full of rich kids, however not poor either. Orland hills feeds into this high school also, along with its section 8 community.
Sandburg is known as a wealthier school and in the same district, however many of the students that go there with great family wealth come from Palos and Palos Park. Those are some areas with the some old money and very deep pockets.

DID I SAY ALL THE KIDS??? I said the school is loaded with spoiled brats (probably 50%) so no. And there is a major difference between rich kids, and spoiled brats. Orland is LOADED with bratty spoiled kids who think their $#it don't stink. Not because the parents are rich, just because the parents are bad parents I would guess. I went to Sandburg and had the wonderful pleasure of dealing with the monsters that went there on a daily basis; who's biggest concern was the fact that their daddy only got them a BMW for Christmas and not the Porche she wanted and stuff like that. Were they all bad (kids)? No, was there a ton of stuck up brats however? OH YES! Beyond belief. So I got to see it all first hand in real life... Did you go to Sandburg and get to see the daily fashion show of $150 shoes that if you didn't have you were a looser and labeled as being "generic" pronounced gen-er-ick... Did you? If not then you're the one that is ignorant and ill informed.

I was surprise to see Oak Forest HS's performance is pretty close to Andrews - and they both exceed Tinley Park and Bremen significantly.

Yikes! Sounds like you have some deep rooted stuff there!

I didn't attend Sandburg, however I went to Chicagao Christian in Palos where per student, is MUCH wealthier than Sandburg. Your preaching to the choir...

I was in the minority who had middle class parents who had to work extra hard to pay for my private schooling (I believe public is better anyway). If you wanna truly see spoiled kids, stop by at a private school and check out the selection of luxory cars and hear about their parents home in different parts of the world. So basically anything you thought you saw, I saw it too and probably more.

Any affluent area is going to have some bratty kids, get over it, it comes with the territory.

HOWEVER, I live next to sandburg grads, work with sandburg grads, have friends that are sandburg grads...and the majority of them all come from parents who were/are pipe fitters, electricians, and many other blue collar trades.

So before you label me again as ingorant and ill informed, get some facts!

Read the post you quoted over again...I am not sure why you responded the way you did? I found it pretty silly...don't get so worked up. I am just simply trying to place both sides that yes, orland has its fair share of bratty kids that are spoiled, but there are tons of great kids too...Many I met 10 years ago when I was in H.S. and I am still friends with today. Modest, hardworking folks.

Because I didn't know, and my perception was different than the facts. That's why we look stuff up.

Consider it a pleasant surpirse, not one of shock and disbelief.

This is my first post, so I am going to make it somewhat breif. I have lived in Tinley Park for the better part of 25 years.I have spent a great deal of time in Oak Forest. It is my belief that people make the community what it is either good or bad...

Wow. FWIW, I graduated from Andrew H.S. ten years ago and this was almost the opposite of my experience. Some people preferred clothes from certain upscale mall stores, but this was as far as it went, not beyond to cars, and family vacation homes, and my-daddy-this, etc. Not sure if this helps the OP. But I suspect Oak Forest more closely resembles the Andrew H.S. district instead of the Sandburg district. Andrew attendance area and Oak Forest are both kind of classic suburban territory (subdivisions filled in border-to-border), whereas Sandburg pulls from some areas thick with McMansions and country clubs (and Palos Park).
