Default teacher salaries

I am looking for information on starting teacher pay in the various school districts. I have found data on average teacher salaries, but I am in my first few years of teaching, so starting teacher pay would be more useful info for me. I can usually find pay scale information if I go directly to a district's website and search around, but this is very time consuming. If I could find a website that compares all of the districts in one place, that would be great.

Or, if anyone can give me info on the top paying districts/best to work in for teachers, that would also be helpful.

I am a special education teacher at the high school level in the suburbs now, just haven't been too happy at the school I work at, enough so that I would like to take a look at what else is out there. Thank you for your help!

As a general rule, if you teach at a high school in a high school district you will get paid more than at a high school in a unit district. Here are the top ten highest starting salaries in both categories, for comparison:

unit districts
City of Chicago: $43,233
Elmhurst: $41,207
Valley View: $40,981
Barrington: $39,796
Naperville 203: $39,381
Indian Prairie: $39,225
Westmont: $39,162
Lake Zurich: $38,788
Elmwood Park: $38,474
CUSD 300: $38,448

high school districts
Lyons Township: $46,796
Reavis: $46,056
Leyden: $46,010
Niles Township: $45,868
Maine Township: $45,677
Northfield Township: $45,664
Riverside-Brookfield: $45,564
Stevenson: $45,498
Argo: $45,316
Oak Park-River Forest: $45,059

It's also helpful to look at the average year-to-year salary increase because schools that don't have the highest starting salary might pay more down the road than schools that pay a lot at the beginning. So here are the top ten highest average year-to-year increases in both categories:

unit districts
City of Chicago: $2,227
Elmwood Park: $1,749
Westmont: $1,723
Lake Zurich: $1,605
Kaneland: $1,410
Sycamore: $1,409
Lisle: $1,382
CSD 158: $1,344
Burlington Central: $1,316
Batavia: $1,273

high school districts
Stevenson: $2,802
Lyons Township: $2,621
Leyden: $2,427
CHSD 128: $2,309
Lake Park: $2,304
Grant: $2,196
CHSD 155: $2,184
Thornton Fractional: $2,136
District 214: $2,074
Ridgewood: $2,072

Those are the figures for teachers with a BA degree. If you have a masters (or are planning on getting one - many districts will reimburse your tuition), here are the top ten starting salaries:

unit districts
Elmhurst: $47,800
Indian Prairie: $47,599
City of Chicago: $46,228
Westmont: $46,211
Valley View: $45,515
Batavia: $45,319
Naperville 203: $44,790
DeKalb: $43,323
St Charles: $42,936
West Aurora: $42,821

high school districts
Niles Township: $56,769
Leyden: $53,132
Northfield Township: $50,930
Reavis: $50,610
Stevenson: $50,598
Lyons Township: $50,540
CHSD 155: $49,699
Lemont: $49,469
District 214: $49,324
Hinsdale: $49,279

And the top ten highest average year-to-year increases...

unit districts
City of Chicago: $2,234
Waukegan: $1,973
Barrington: $1,917
North Chicago: $1,908
Kaneland: $1,902
Westmont: $1,885
