The North Shore is about as far from diverse as you can get - and the South Shore is nice in the city (South Loop and Hyde Park), but farther south is not so nice.

i'm not sure i agree with that entirely. granted, there are BY FAR more diverse areas besides the north shore, but i think there are parts of it that are not completely white.

the problem with gurnee is that it is more than 45 minutes away from downtown during rush hour. the commute would kill us. thanks for the suggestion, though!

yes, just to clarify, we are looking for a north shore property. the proximity to the lake is important to us.
can anyone weigh in on the diversity of highland park? i know it's predominantly white, but isn't there a hispanic population from neighboring highwood?
