Red face New To Addison,il

I just moved to DuPage county w/ my daughter, and I was wondering are they LGBT friendly here, I do have a partner and we would like to be in the community but know nothing about it.

signed: Lesbian in the suburbs, just to put that out there

Last edited by prosperitycl; 03-06-2008 at 02:17 PM.. Reason: I forgot to mention I was lesbian, didn't want to be confused with being a gay man

Check out OutInTheSuburbs.com for what's going on in the suburban glbt community. I don't know specifically about Addison.

Did you mean, you would like to be out in the community? As in holding hands with your partner, etc. I would have to say it would probably be ok. Overall, the Chicago area is quite diverse and open minded. I really think the worst that would happen is you might get a few stares from people. Depending on how hostile they are, you can decide whether or not you feel comfortable with PDA's. (public displays of affection) I think it's very unlikely you'll face any verbal abuse, let alone physical, though of course common sense is in order. Now if you're looking for someplace to hang out, there is a former lesbian bar in Franklin Park, not to far away. While they have recently changed formats, it sounds as if their former target clientele would still be welcome there.
