Flight Path Maps?
Does anyone know where I could get (online or otherwise) a map of the flight paths in the area? I was out standing in the driveway of a home I'm thinking about making an offer on and a plane flew directly overhead.
It was windy today and I haven't seen many planes in this area, but I'd like to be sure first because I don't want to be under a flight path.
Thanks!

Maybe you can offer a nearby intersection so that others can guide you.

Where is the location? Some of us probably live near or under paths and can let you know if that was a fluke or a regular thing.

In the aviation world, Jeppesen ( I think that's how it's spelled) is the leader in flight path maps for most US airspace. They break it down into class a,b,c space (military, commercial, etc). I don't know how you can get ahold of them. Maybe do a web search and you can find some PDF versions online?

Thanks for the responses!
The location is in Highland Park-- rough parameters Green Bay Rd, about halfway between Clavey and Central.
It was a fairly big plane (so probably commercial) and seemed to fly over the house going east and then bank south.

If you look at the current ORD runway configuration, you can get planes coming in from every direction. Highland park is a good 15-20 miles away from the airport so I can't imagine you're going to have a lot of noise. It'd be much more of a concern if you were closer. Do realize that they are in the process of redoing some of the runways, my estimate is that that project will be finished by the year 2525.

I live not too far from this location, east of Green Bay and south of Central, closer to Clavey. Planes go over the area frequently, but they aren't low enough at that point that you can hear much of anything. Occasionally you will hear the plane's engines, but not often.

I'm really not trying to be a smart ***** here, but if a plane flying overhead makes to much noise for you to consider moving into an area or buying a nice home, then my advice is to move out to the boon docks then. I mean come on... A plane? Are you serious? Where I live, we have bumper to bumper traffic from 9am until 9pm (or anytime the mall is open), planes constantly flying into/out of Midway (mostly Southwest Airlines' planes), sirens from ambulances and fire, constant neighbor's dogs barking; I mean its part of life in the big city, or in this case burbs. Learn to live with it and before you know it, you won't even notice it. I'm sure a few of you that have lived up against the tollway for years can attest to that.

I used to live in Park Ridge about a block and a half off of Canfield and a stones throw away from the freeway. Our house was right in one of O"Hare's approach flightpaths. When we first moved out there, things in the house would rattle a bit and the noise was loud, you couldn't hear the person talking to you and you could see the planes' bellies pretty well. But after living there, you get used to it, and then you don't hardly hear it at all. The approaches would stop after 11pm. This was a long time ago but I can't imagine much has changed. After a while, you get used to your surroundings and just deal with it.

Thanks again for the info and insight. You guys are terrific!
As a little background, our house in Boston was directly under a flight path. Literally sit on my front steps, look straight up-- there it was.
As a gardener and someone who likes to keep the windows open in the summertime, I don't mind planes "around" or super high up, but 1) directly overhead, 2) many times throughout the day or hour 3) when they're close enough to interrupt conversation, 4) starting as early as 6am and sometimes running till 1am (if there were flight delays) was enough to put "no direct flight path" on my list.
Everybody's got their pet peeve-- guess mine is flight paths.
