Hello all- I was just wondering if anyone out there who was familiar with both towns, would you say that Southeast Wisconsin's downtown Cedarburg is close to the feel of downtown Naperville in Illinois?...I can't think of another "downtown" in Southeast Wisconsin that might compare to Naperville. Thoughts??? Thanks anyone.

Cedarburg is a fraction of the size of Naperville. I'd also say that Cedarburg plays up its "cutesy" historical features much more so than Naperville.

The size and functional aspects of Naperville remind more of Waukesha, which also has a college so it is similar to Naperville in that way too...

chet everett, valid points you make! Thank you for the comments! I had an opportunity to check out the christkindlmarket in Naperville this year. This Friday I believe there is something similar in Cedarburg. Happy holidays to you!

No. Cedarburg is small and very quaint. It doesn't have nearly the stores, restaurants, attractions, etc. that Naperville does. No big box stores in downtown Cedarburg, for example. There is also much less traffic, both foot and car.

Both really are quite nice- just different.

Both really are quite nice- just different. I can't think of any downtown in SE WI that is similar to Naperville, either.

Strawflower, another valid point. I was in Cedarburg Friday, and just as you say: the lack of name brand stores and big time restaurants definitely separates the 2... that said, might Cedarburg be comparable to a: GALENA????

Master Jay - I grew up in Cedarburg and still go up there for the holidays to visit relatives. I've lived in Illinois (currently Elmhurst) for 17 years. I agree with most everything said above in that both Cedarburg and Naperville are great, just different. Happy to answer any more questions if you have specifics. Have you been to Tomaso's? That will give me better perspective . If you're thinking of moving to Chicago burbs and have kids, might be able to share my experiences looking around.

Hello Threes-A-Charm, I tried to get into Tomaso's but there was a 30 minute + wait, although the restaurant by the Winery was 1.5 hours wait!!! We settled on The Stilt, which was just OK. I love Chicago, and typically spend time in the Skokie/North side of Chicago area. Thank you for your feedback! Happy Holidays! Master Jay

chet everett, one thing just occurred to me, I believe a major difference is that Waukesha has a pretty good Hispanic community, and I am guessing Naperville does not... I posted this question in the Milwaukee forum as well, and a writer also agreed Naperville and Waukesha may be more similar! HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Master Jay

Naperville has about 5% hispanics, while Waukesha has 12%.
