Hello all,
We are looking to relocate to the area and are thinking we will end up in the Northwest suburbs because of commute time. We have been driving the area and looking at addresses that are advertised for rent just to get a feel for different places, and have found several we can see ourselves living in. We have noticed only one small rv parked on a driveway in Glenview.
We own a small (26 ft) rv and hope to park it at our rental home. Is there some sort of law prohibiting this in the various areas of the county? Can anyone advise on this subject? Thanks in advance,
Lis

The City of Chicago prohibits parking RVs over 22' in length on street -- https://www.cityofchicago.org/city/e...inchicago.html

Many suburbs also have similar ordinances when it comes to street parking. That said it is difficult to prohibit folks with sufficiently large yards to park their RV on their own property. Of course areas with HOAs will have restrictions, and if folks are not living in areas with big enough lots that there is sufficient clearance for things like fire safety RV storage can be restricted...

Generally the climate is a factor -- snow and rain make it ruinous park several tons of RV in other than nice paved storage lot...

Whatever city your looking at go on the city website and typically it will tell you rules about parking RV's. Typically they need to be out of site ie side of house or back of house, oftentimes rules about how close it can be to the house as well as how close it can be to the property line.

I had looked into getting an RV a while back and I believe in Aurora it had to be 10 feet from my house and 10 or 15 feet from the property line. Turned out my yard was't large enough and my driveway doesn't extend to the backyard so wasn't going to work for my situation.

If you want to be 100% sure RV's are allowed look at unincorporated areas.
