GolfLover2 is on a distinguished road
Mr.Anna: Chet is right. The villages located within the Lincoln-Way Community High School District are great smaller towns. They provide housing that ranges in upscale to small and affordable, with Frankfort and Mokena offering the higher-end housing, Manhattan being a bit more rural, closer, and more affordable. In closer driving proximity you have the choices of Peotone and Manteno directly north of Bourbonnais. Both have some beautiful older homes, plus newer construction (both single-family and townhomes). They retain some rural charm, but offer the convenience of many franchise businesses within easy drive. Surrounding Bourbonnais to the east, south, and west you will find small rural communities within a fairly easy drive. All these communities are something to consider and would be affordable and safe. You don't provide any clues as to your family's needs regarding schools and housing, but the schools located in the LWHS school district (elementary to high schools/public and private) are all excellent. Bourbonnais itself offers a wide range of housing from which to choose, both in style, size, and affordability. If you are looking to rent shorter-term, a townhome would suffice or fit your needs, and would want to build in the future ... consider Dunree Homes, located in Manteno & Bourbonnais. They might fit the bill for your family even while renting and are very reputable. If I can answer any further questions, please write. Having grown-up in the area, I may be able to assist and answer questions in more detail.
