Default I like the foody-ish spot in Chicago as much as anybody...

The OP seems to have a much less critical palate -- "Would prefer it to not be super high end, but more casual or moderate." The spots linked to all fit the bill... Its not like I am sending 'em to Applebees By the Sea...

For what its worth there are much nicer places in Traverse City, but even if you count taking the Blue Line to O'Hare for a flight to Cherry Capital Airport that won't really cut it as "walkable or Uber"... Cherry Capital Airport - TVC

The Waterfront Cafe in Rogers Park is what you are looking for. The food is nothing special, but it has nice views of the lake
