For the most part, most of the Tacos and Mexican Food in the Western Suburbs suck. Looking for good Tacos and Mexican food recommendations in or around Aurora, Naperville, Lisle, Downers, Plainfield, Bolingbrook, etc.

A few of my favorites currently is Ricos tacos which is a roadside stand off Hill Ave in Aurora but not sure if they are even around anymore and when they are open it's sporadic, they have no phone number or anything so not willing to drive out to maybe have them open.

Panchos in Aurora is pretty decent as well. I know there's a lot of good taco carts and parking lot tacos in Aurora but they seem to move around and be hit or miss whether they are open.

Any good taco suggestions?

Westmont has three really good options --

https://www.allmenus.com/il/westmont...co-grill/menu/ -- Tacos Al Pastor are a favorite.

Taco Express -- Despite what the website says, they will make authentic tacos i\with cilantro & onions f you ask, though "Tex-Mex" with lettuce & cheese is the "default".

http://www.delcarmenrestaurant.com/a...+Westmont3.pdf. This is the newest of the "Del Carmen" empire and the staff has been excellent to me on the several times I've been there for either a quick 'stand-up lunch' or carry-out.

Los Comales in Lombard
I ate there multiple times, and have nothing but positive things to say about it, although I only tried their tacos. Their food is the opposite of Taco Bell: very authentic and fresh. (Example: beef tongue with cilantro and onions on a corn tortilla.) The vibe is casual and moderately loud. Latin music plays in the background. Workers are fast and friendly.

Everything is made from scratch when you order, and there are vegetarian options like soy chorizo. Now that's hard to find in the suburbs. Mexican Restaurant* | Totopos Restaurant Naperville

Thank you so much for making this thread OP!

If you end up near Bloomingdale, you'll find my favorite Mexican place, Vivaldos Authentic Mexican!

Its not a sit down and eat kind of place, and honestly you don't get a great first impression due to its outer appearance. Everything I'd have so far has been excellent, but I dream about the tacos and tortas el pastor. This is where I go for my cheat meals and comfort meals. And their hot salsa is the real deal, reminds me a lot of a chipotle (the peppers, not the restaurant) salsa.

Oh, and its cheap. Like, $1.59 / taco cheap. And the servings are large. And, I love this place. Its one of my top three cheat eats in the Chicago suburbs (others are Pho Ha in Glendale Heights and Ma Po in Naperville).
