Suggestions for a suburb that is commutable to Harvey...excellent schools, liberal, walkable. Budget up to $1 million but would love to spend much less. Commute 30 min or so in car. Is this even possible?
Thanks!

30 min? No. An Oak Park or Evanston is not close to Harvey.

Maybe a less liberal but nonetheless great burb with some great walkable amenities/schools such as Downers Grove or Hinsdale?

Homewood and Flossmoor -A few miles south of Harvey and you have the option of taking the Metra that travels right into Harvey.

I seriously doubt someone willing to relocate and spend $1m on a home (asking for liberal/walkable) would consider either of those towns. No way.

Hinsdale looks very promising ... downers grove looks pretty good too although the commute could start to get long.

Just be glad you have your high housing budget. That will help

You might also consider Munster, IN. It's easily within 30 minutes. Lake County, Indiana as a whole is more liberal than the rest of the state. Munster is probably one of the more conservative areas though. You could easily spend less than $1 million unless you wanted to spend more. Some areas are walkable.
